Coming off a season cut short due to COVID-19, Texas State baseball will play a 49-game schedule, including 27 games at home, in 2021, the team announced on Jan. 14.
The Bobcats plan to add a series in April and some midweek games to the schedule in the coming weeks.
Leading up to the season, the Maroon and Gold are ranked 30th by the Collegiate Baseball Preseason poll, their highest preseason rank since 2012.
After its home-opening series against Brigham Young University (Feb. 19-20, 22), Texas State will travel to Arlington and have the opportunity to play in Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, against Sam Houston State University on Feb. 24. This will be the first of two MLB Stadiums that Texas State is scheduled to play in. The team will end February with a three-game series at Lamar University.
Texas State’s rival, the University of Texas at San Antonio, will head north on I-35 to San Marcos on March 2 for the Bobcats’ lone matchup of the season against the Roadrunners.
Texas State will then proceed to Houston to participate in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic at Minute-Maid Park, home of the Astros. At Minute-Maid, the Bobcats will play against Texas Tech University (March 5), Rice University (March 6) and end with Texas Christian University (March 7).
The Bobcats then start a five-game homestand beginning with a rematch against TCU on March 9, a three-game series against Houston (March 9-11) and concluding the homestand with a rematch against Rice (March 17).
Conference play starts off with the Bobcats at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (March 19-21), followed by two home series’ against the University of Louisiana at Monroe (March 26-28) and the University of Texas at Arlington (April 1-April 3).
On April 13, Texas State welcomes Texas A&M University, its first home matchup against the Aggies since the 2017 season and the start of a five-game homestand. The University of Texas at Austin comes rolling into town on April 20 for a single-game matchup versus the Bobcats. Texas State finishes up the April homestand with a series against Arkansas State (April 23-25).
The Bobcats return the favor and travel to Austin for a matchup with the Longhorns on May 4. They return home for a weekend series against South Alabama University (May 7-9), then head north to Fort Worth to play TCU May 18.
Texas State travels to Coastal Carolina University (May 20-22) for its final three games in the Sun Belt Conference before the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
The Sun Belt Conference Tournament will be played on May 25-30 in Montgomery, Alabama, at Riverwalk Stadium.
