The Hays County Local Health Department reports five new COVID-19-related fatalities on March 2, a Buda man in his 50s, a Kyle man in his 60s, a Kyle woman in her 90s, a San Marcos man in his 30s and a Wimberley woman in her 90s.
There have been a total of 221 fatalities in the county. The county also reported 54 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and no new recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,399, total active cases to 559 and recoveries to 15,619. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 872.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 153, 170 and 117 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 125,245. The total number of hospitalizations is 752 and total current hospitalizations is 20 after four people were hospitalized and six were discharged.
