San Marcos Police Department has put out an arrest warrant against An-drew Stephen Jones on suspicion of a murder that took place April 5 at the Uptown Square Apartments.
Police responded Friday at 6:37 p.m. to a call reporting gunshots. Callers advised police that a shooting had taken place in the parking lot.
Witnesses reported the shooter was a black male wearing a yellow shirt and light-colored shorts. The suspect was reported as 6’0”-2” with a full-sleeve tattoo on one of his arms. The suspect left the scene in a silver SUV and went an unknown direction on Thorpe Lane.
The victim was identified as Nicholas White. White was given first aid and several tourniquets by officers on the scene. He was transferred to Seton Hays Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead by Justice of Peace Maggie Moreno.
White has been transferred to Travis County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Detectives and Investigators quickly began processing the crime scene. A witness reported that White was allegedly meeting him for a drug deal when a suspect approached and shot the victim.
Through witness testimonies and surveillance cameras, police obtained a license plate that led to Jones’s apartment at the Pointe San Marcos Apartment on Comanche Street.
SWAT arrived at Jones’ residence at around 5 a.m. Saturday. Residents had been safely evacuated prior to the team’s arrival and the suspect’s roommates were interviewed. Jones was not found at the apartment, but his silver SUV was and has since been impounded.
Should anyone have information about Jones’s location, please contact Detective Patrick Aubry at 512-753-2306.
White’s death marks the third homicide this year in San Marcos.
