Responding aggressively, the Bobcats took a dominating 3-1 lead. Scoring three unanswered goals in the first 14 minutes of play.
The first of the Bobcats three first half goals came from sophomore forward Kaylee Davis. The Biology major fired a shot to the left corner off an assist from senior midfielder Rachel Grout.
Scoring Texas State’s second goal of the game was senior Kassi Hormuth, a shot to the lower left corner, just inside the box. The senior continued her run of excellent play, picking up her seventh goal of the season.
Rearing her head for the second time, it was Kaylee Davis striking once again with a header goal off an assist from Hormuth. Like Hormuth before her, this was Davis’ seventh goal on the season.
Texas State remained in control the remainder of the first half, preventing the Trojans from answering back with stout defensive play.
It was in the second half during the 65th minute when Troy struck back, cutting the lead to 3-2 off a header goal from White.
Refusing to allow the Trojans back into the game, the Bobcats scored for a fourth time as Grout scored her eighth goal of the season to lockdown the win for Texas State.
