Texas State softball takes down the Cardinals
Texas State softball beat the Lamar Cardinals 4-1 Wednesday night at Bobcat Softball Stadium bringing their current win-streak to six games.
The Bobcats got on the board first, sophomore infielder Tara Oltmann (1-4) brought in junior outfielder Christina McDowell (2-3) with an RBI single to center.
The Cardinals answered back in the top of the second inning with an RBI single.
Junior infielder Bailee Carter (1-2) took four-straight balls in the bottom of the fifth inning to earn the winning run with a walk.
Texas State had the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, senior outfielder Mari Cranek (2-3) hit a ball to left field scoring senior outfielder Kennedy Cline (1-3). McDowell brought in sophomore infielder AriAnn Bell (2-2) with a single to left field.
Sophomore pitcher Megan King (9-8) pitched a complete game and added on another win after earning the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Texas State is now 16-15 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
The Bobcats look to keep the streak alive at home this weekend with a three-game series against Georgia State. Game one will start at 6 p.m. on March 29.
