Mala Luna Music Festival closed out day two with major musical appearances from Future, Migos and Khalid while attendees danced in animal suits and traditional festival attire such as jerseys and bandanas.
Costumes for Texas music festivals usually include fishnet tights or high-waist shorts with a comfortable top, but Mala Luna attendees were prepared for temperatures as low as 42 degrees and the spirit of Halloween. Guests wore fuzzy animal suits that zipped up with floppy ears and some even had cow udders. Less spirited outfits were mostly sports jerseys celebrating the Astros and paying homage to popular teams across the country.
Onesies seemed to be the perfect Halloween costume to keep warm and enjoy Mala Luna.

Animal onesies from Walmart

Elliot Rezsofi, Cole Clark, Jonathan Kampf and friends took a trip to their local Walmart store to find outfit inspiration in the pajama section. The group left pleased with their sleeping attire.
“We just took a trip to Walmart, we just wanted to be comfortable and stay warm, but the onesies are also good for Halloween. It was a win-win decision, Rezsofi said, dressed as a chicken.

The three bears

Jenny Tieu, Melinda Tran and Angela Chow traveled together from Houston, Texas to see what the Mala Luna Music Festival had to offer.
The group attends festivals regularly, and they typically wear denim shorts and tank tops but were inspired by Halloween to switch-up their style.
“It’s a decent festival, but it was really cold yesterday. We came the first day in Astros jerseys but brought these today expecting it to be colder. We got them on Amazon,” Tieu said.

The baseball players

Uninfluenced by the San Antonio weather, which dropped below 50 degrees over the weekend this group of college baseball players coordinated their style by wearing their favorite jerseys together.
Ram Maldonado, Angel De La Paz, Andrew Reyes and Ulysses Hernandez came together from Laredo, Texas to see Playboi Carti perform on the first day of the festival, but returned the second day dawning their coordinating outfits to enjoy the rest of the event.

The lone cow

Anthony Nguyen is a music festival regular. Nguyen said he chose to dress as a cow to beat the cold weather but to also honor his tradition of wearing a onesie to festivals.
“Its an EDM thing, to me this is normal and nothing out of the ordinary,” Nguyen said. “In EDM culture, we love to dress weird, even if Mala Luna isn’t exactly an EDM scene, it’s fun.

The park ranger and his cartoon friends

Garrett Spangler, Derrick Valdez and Mitchell Setliff recycled their costumes from previous years. The group typically has to travel for music festivals, but not for Mala Luna.
“It’s really cool having something local because it’s just right here,” Setliff said. “We wanted to dress up for sure though, it’s Halloween and it’s tradition.”
