San Marcos High School teacher Ian Michael Madden (09/09/1991) turned himself in to Travis County authorities Feb. 22 for having an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student.
Two students notified the athletic director and assistant principal of an alleged inappropriate teacher-student relationship, which is a second-degree felony, between Madden and a 17-year-old female student over a period of two months. SMCISD began an investigation, eventually contacting SMPD. A warrant was issued Feb. 15 for Madden’s arrest.
The two parties were interviewed separately during the investigation and admitted to several incidents of sexual intercourse. Numerous text messages and photos of the two were located on the victim’s cell phone that was seized in the investigation.
Madden is a history and government teacher and boys basketball coach at the high school. He was suspended from employment on Jan. 25. Any questions regarding his employment should be directed to SMCISD.
