During a Feb. 26 meeting Hays County Commissioners Court unanimously voted to oppose the Permian Highway Pipeline.
The natural gas pipeline will run 430 miles from West Texas through the Texas Hill Country into the Houston area.
The court is opposing the pipeline citing that the development, Kinder Morgan, has not adequately engaged with residents who will be affected by the pipeline.
The court’s resolution states that state legislators create stricter laws regarding eminent domain laws as well as approving Hays County’s request for environmental and economic impact studies be done for all oil and gas pipeline developments in Texas.
Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe and Precinct 2 Commissioner Mark Jones will host a public meeting on Wednesday, March 6at Hays High School Cafeteria, 4800 Jack C. Hays Trail (FM 2770) from 6-8 p.m. Speaker presentations will include a project overview, discussions of environmental and economic concerns, and property-owner rights, and will be followed by a Q and A with the audience.
