The San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission denied a request from the city Nov. 27 to designate Cape Dam as a local historic landmark.
Commissioners said that if approved, control of the area would be taken away from them and any changes made to the dam or the surrounding area would have to go through the Historic Preservation Commission of Texas and other state entities. After denying the request, the motion will go to City Council with the recommendation to be rejected.
The Planning and Zoning Commission also approved a request from Jack’s Roadhouse for a conditional use permit, which allows the establishment to expand its service area to include two outdoor patio areas with transparent doorways. The Commission amended the request to require Jack’s Roadhouse to close their proposed patio doorways at 9:00 p.m. The amendment will not affect their regular business hours.
