Following an investigation from the San Marcos Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, authorities say police have arrested a suspect for the March 12 murder of a San Marcos woman.
The suspect was arrested on March 15 in San Antonio and is being transported for booking in the Hays County Jail.
Upon arrival of a welfare check call at a residence near the corner of North Bishop Street and Craddock Avenue, authorities say police discovered a woman’s body on the back patio of the home on March 12.
According to authorities, evidence at the scene indicated the woman’s death was the result of a homicide, marking the second homicide in San Marcos for 2021. The woman has been identified as 36-year-old Cheryl Ritzer of San Marcos. Next of kin has been notified.
An infant was also found lying near the woman and was transported to Dell Children’s Medical Center. Authorities say an evaluation has indicated the infant was not seriously injured.
