The Hays County Local Health Department reports four new COVID-19-related fatalities Sept. 21, a Kyle man in his 60s, a Kyle man in his 40s, a San Marcos woman in her 90s and a Wimberley man in his 60s. There have been a total of 353 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 73 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 25,892 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 27,892, total active cases to 1,952 and recoveries to 25,587. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 2,574.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 603, 633 and 331 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 247,212. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,270 and total current hospitalizations is 48 after five people were hospitalized and six were discharged.
The county reports 39 unvaccinated people and nine fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 31 unvaccinated patients and one fully vaccinated patient are in the ICU.
