The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality Sept. 23, a woman from Kyle in her 60s. There have been a total of 357 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 71 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 26,210 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 28,091, total active cases to 1,524 and recoveries to 26,210. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 2,460.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 461, 494 and 255 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 249,500. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,274 and total current hospitalizations is 44 after three people were hospitalized and three were discharged.
The county reports 41 unvaccinated people and three fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 30 unvaccinated patients and zero fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
