Texas State elementary education sophomore Kamryn Macha studies for an exam after receiving the cross of ashes on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020, at Our Lady of Wisdom University Parish. Ash Wednesday is a Christian holy day of prayer and fasting that always falls on the first day of Lent, a 40-day season of penitential preparation for Easter.
