The San Marcos Police Department arrested an individual Dec. 7 driving a stolen vehicle.

Police say at approximately 2:21 a.m., an officer witnessed a 2014 Jeep Trailhawk SUV driving at around 100 mph on the east access road of IH-35 near state highway 123 and attempted to stop it. Police say the driver, Jacob Anthony Fuentes, 22, evaded the officer, failed to yield, then traveled northbound and on to Linda Drive.

At the Townwood Apartments, 520 Linda Dr., police say the driver exited the vehicle and ran away. The Jeep, which police say was still in motion, hit a parked vehicle at a low speed, causing minor damage. Police say the driver was then captured after an on-foot chase.

Fuentes was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest with Vehicle, Evading Arrest on Foot and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Two other passengers in the vehicle were detained and later released.
