The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities between Dec. 22-28, a Buda man in his 50s and a San Marcos woman in her 70s. There have been a total of 413 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 1,229 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 185 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 30,316, total active cases to 1,510 and recoveries to 30,316. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,661.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 472, 480 and 329 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 301,813. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,413 and total current hospitalizations is 20 after 19 people were hospitalized and 11 people was discharged.
The county reports 16 unvaccinated people and four fully vaccinated persons are hospitalized. 10 unvaccinated and zero fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
