The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality Oct. 19, a Buda man in his 30s. There have been a total of 388 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 36 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 71 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 29,392, total active cases to 521 and recoveries to 28,483. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 899.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 108, 192 and 127 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 269,040. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,333 and total current hospitalizations is 18 after two people were hospitalized and one person was discharged.
The county reports 13 unvaccinated people and five fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 10 unvaccinated and three fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
