The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality Oct. 18, a San Marcos man in his 40s.There have been a total of 386 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 96 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 165 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 29,290, total active cases to 582 and recoveries to 28,322. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 996.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 121, 196 and 138 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 267,129. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,328 and total current hospitalizations is 18 after one person was hospitalized and three people were discharged.
The county reports 16 unvaccinated people and two fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 11 unvaccinated and two fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
