The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality Oct. 20, a Wimberley man in his 50s. There have been a total of 387 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 37 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 60 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 29,356, total active cases to 557 and recoveries to 28,412. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 985.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 109, 203 and 139 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 268,297. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,331 and total current hospitalizations is 17 after one person was hospitalized and two people were discharged.
The county reports 13 unvaccinated and 14 fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 12 unvaccinated patients and one fully vaccinated patient are in the ICU.
