The Hays County Local Health Department reports 49 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 80 recoveries Oct.1, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 28,600, total active cases to 1,068 and recoveries to 27,165. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,996.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 286, 358 and 163 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 256,236. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,293 and total current hospitalizations is 36 after two people were hospitalized and two were discharged. The total number of fatalities in the county is 367.
The county reports 29 unvaccinated people and seven fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 27 unvaccinated patients and two fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
