Texas State softball’s four games at the Maverick Classic in Arlington, Texas, have been canceled due to inclement weather in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, according to a Feb. 17 statement from the university.
The tournament was set to be the Bobcats’ season opener. They expected to play Abilene Christian University and Wichita State University from Feb. 21-22.
The cancellation is coming directly after the Bobcats postponed their three-game series against Texas Tech University, also due to inclement weather. The Bobcats have not played since March. 11, 2020, after the 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Texas State will now play a doubleheader against No. 22 Mississippi State University at 1 p.m and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Bobcat Softball Stadium.
