The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities April 5, a Driftwood man in his 50s and a San Marcos man in his 60s. There have been a total of 238 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 150 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 86 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 17,337, total active cases to 462 and recoveries to 16,637. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 671.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 174, 152 and 74 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 146,199. The total number of hospitalizations is 800 and total current hospitalizations is 10 after four people were hospitalized and six were discharged.
