The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities Dec. 22, a San Marcos woman in her 80s and a Kyle man in his 60s. There have been a total of 122 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 165 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 166 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 9,175, total active cases to 1,428 and recoveries to 7,625. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,892.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 426, 496 and 271 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 67,642. The total number of hospitalizations is 499 and total current hospitalizations is 27 after eight people were hospitalized and six were discharged.
The Hays County Local Health Department will not report COVID-19 updates Dec. 23-27 and Jan. 1-3 in observance of upcoming holidays.
