The Hays County Health Department reports 55 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 82 recoveries Nov. 24, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 7,097, total active cases to 708 and recoveries to 6,290. The total active cases in the last 21 days is 945.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 76, 320 and 190 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 48,164. The total number of hospitalizations is 426 and total current hospitalizations is 14 after three new patients were admitted and one was discharged. There have been a total of 99 fatalities in the county.
Schneider urges everyone to take extra precautions this Thanksgiving to protect the most vulnerable to COVID-19.
“Even though it is strongly discouraged, we know people are going to gather with family and friends over the next few days,” Schneider said. “While a virtual Thanksgiving is not ideal, it will lessen the chances of a potential Christmas in the ICU, particularly for elderly relatives and those with health conditions. We want everyone to stay safe.”
