The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19 related fatality Aug. 6, a Buda man in his 60s. There have been a total of 277 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 144 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 54 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 21,547, total active cases to 1,763 and recoveries to 19,507. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 2,089.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 476, 597 and 415 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 198,507. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,025 and total current hospitalizations is 44 after six people were hospitalized and six were discharged.
