The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities July 31- Aug 2, a Kyle woman in her 60s and a Kyle woman in her 70s. There have been a total of 271 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 470 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 71 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 20,966, total active cases to 1,425 and recoveries to 19,270. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,627.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 372, 457 and 344 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 194,299. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,005 and total current hospitalizations is 44 after30 people were hospitalized and 17 were discharged.
