The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities Sept. 17, a Driftwood man in his 70s and a San Marcos man in his 50s. There have been a total of 347 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 80 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 152 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 27,573, total active cases to 1,788 and recoveries to 25,438. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 2,788.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 562, 566 and 314 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 243,552. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,254 and total current hospitalizations is 55 after seven people were hospitalized and seven were discharged.
The county reports 50 unvaccinated people and five fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 29 unvaccinated patients and two fully vaccinated patient are in the ICU.
