The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality April 1, a Buda man in his 60s. There have been a total of 236 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 38 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and four recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 17,187, total active cases to 400 and recoveries to 16,551. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 574.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 152, 131 and 60 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 144,079. The total number of hospitalizations is 796 and total current hospitalizations is 12 after five people were hospitalized and four were discharged.
