The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities March 8, a San Marcos man in his 60s and a San Marcos woman in her 80s. There have been a total of 229 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 84 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and zero recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,574, total active cases to 728 and recoveries to 15,617. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 741.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 202, 210 and 160 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 130,642. The total number of hospitalizations is 758 and total current hospitalizations is 11 after three people were hospitalized and six were discharged.
