The Hays County Local Health Department reports 36 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 34 recoveries March 22, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,913, total active cases to 423 and recoveries to 16,255. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 645.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 160, 106 and 76 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 138,374. The total number of hospitalizations is 781 and total current hospitalizations is 14 after nine people were hospitalized and one was discharged. The total number of fatalities in the county is 235.
