Dr. Vincent E. Morton has been named Texas State’s associate vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students.
Morton, who assumed his role Sept. 1, will be replacing Dr. Margarita Arellano who retired after more than 11 years with the university. Morton joined Texas State in 1991 as assistant director of Recreation Sports before moving to the Dean of Students’ Office in 1995 as assistant dean. In 2005, Morton became associate dean of Students Affairs and student ombudsman.
Morton holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Texas, a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, and a Ph.D. in education from Texas State.
