The Hays County Health Department reported four new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total amount of cases in the county to 270 and total active cases to 109.
As of 2 p.m. May 23, no new individuals have recovered from the virus, totaling 158 recovered cases. The total number of received negative tests in the county is 3,173, with 251 tests still pending.
Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said the majority of the 251 tests were administered at nursing homes as required by Gov. Abbott. According to Schneider, as of May 23, half of the tests have come back negative.
The total number of hospitalizations remains at 28, with six individuals still hospitalized. The number of COVID-19-related fatalities remains three.
Kyle and San Marcos remain the cities with the highest number of active cases at 63 and 25, respectively.
