The Hays County Local Health Department reports four new COVID-19-related fatalities Jan. 27, a Buda woman in her 70s, a Kyle man in his 70s and two San Marcos women in their 70s. There have been a total of 181 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 79 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 332 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 14,719, total active cases to 2,343 and recoveries to 12,195. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,674.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 655, 866 and 437 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 101,441. The total number of hospitalizations is 637 and total current hospitalizations is 34 after one person was hospitalized and four were discharged.
