The Hays County Local Health Department reports six new COVID-19-related fatalities Jan. 20, a Dripping Springs man in his 80s, a San Marcos man in his 30s, a San Marcos man in his 70s, a San Marcos man in his 80s, a Woodcreek woman in her 70s and a Maxwell man in his 30s. There have been a total of 168 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 35 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 198 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 13,682, total active cases to 2,575 and recoveries to 10,939. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,256.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 836, 792 and 517 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 94,710. The total number of hospitalizations is 663 and total current hospitalizations is 47 after five people were hospitalized and seven were discharged.
