The Hays County Local Health Department reports three new COVID-19-related fatalities Feb. 5, a Kyle man in his 60s, a Kyle man in his 80s and a San Marcos man in his 70s. There have been a total of 198 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 163 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 215 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 15,378, total active cases to 1,945 and recoveries to 13,235. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,044.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 508, 716 and 348 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 111,140. The total number of hospitalizations is 691 and total current hospitalizations is 35 after four people were hospitalized and eight were discharged.
