The Hays County Local Health Department reports 41 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 51 recoveries May 21, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 18,775, total active cases to 255 and recoveries to 18,275. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 462.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 75, 78 and 30 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 168,258. The total number of hospitalizations is 863 and total current hospitalizations is 9 after 3 people were hospitalized and 2 were discharged. The total number of fatalities in the county is 245.
