The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality, a Buda woman in her 60s. There have been a total of 240 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 89 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 through April 8-9 and 71 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 17,447, total active cases to 432 and recoveries to 16,775. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 593.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 169, 130 and 79 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 148,214. The total number of hospitalizations is 805 and total current hospitalizations is 12 after one person was hospitalized and one was discharged.
