The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality March 12, a Buda man in his 50s. There have been a total of 232 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 17 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 43 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,668, total active cases to 446 and recoveries to 15,990. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 835.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 144, 102 and 106 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 133,151. The total number of hospitalizations is 764 and total current hospitalizations is nine after zero people were hospitalized and one was discharged.
