Texas State has received 300 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and 500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, according to a university email by Student Health Center Director Emilio Carranco. 
A vaccination event will be held in the LBJ Student Center Grand Ballroom on March 12. Faculty, staff and students eligible for vaccination, based on the Texas Department of State Health Services guidelines, will be contacted via email and provided a vaccine registration link. 
Those selected for registration will use the link to select either the Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine along with an appointment time for March 12. No further registrations will be accepted once all available time slots are filled. 
There will be an additional opportunity for eligible faculty, staff and students to register for the university’s next vaccination event. According to Carranco, the university anticipates future weekly vaccination distributions at both its San Marcos and Round Rock campuses. 
Vaccinations at the university will be prioritized in the following order:
1. Healthcare: Student Health Center staff, athletic trainers, health professions faculty along with staff and students in direct patient care 
2. Emergency responders: University Police Department staff
3. Vaccine distribution staff
4. Death service providers: Forensic Anthropology Center faculty, staff and students
5. Childcare providers: Child Development Center faculty, staff and student assistants
6. Faculty, staff and students 65 years of age and older 
7. Faculty, staff and students who work in pre K-12 education 
8. Faculty, staff and students with chronic medical conditions who are 50 and older
9. Faculty, staff, and students with chronic medical conditions who are 40 and older
10. Faculty, staff and students with chronic medical conditions who are 16 and older
The Johnson & Johnson doses were allocated by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Pfizer doses were provided by Hays County. A portion of the doses provided by Hays County will be administered to county residents at Texas State’s San Marcos campus.
