Texas State baseball (21-13) was defeated 12-0 by Georgia Southern Friday in the first of a three-game series in Statesboro, Ga.
Georgia Southern got on the board early, getting six earned runs against Texas State starting pitcher Hunter McMahon. McMahon gave up six hits, two walks and struck out five batters.
Reece Gould and Dontae Woodard pitched the last four innings, combining for six more runs on six hits, two walks and three strikeouts The Texas State offense was embarrassed by Georgia Southern’s pitching staff.
The Bobcats were held to zero runs and were the victims to 11 strikeouts. The win goes to Seth Shuman of Georgia Southern, who pitched seven innings giving up only two hits, two walks, and striking out eight Texas State batters. Texas State and Georgia Southern get back to action Saturday at 2 p.m.
