Note: The Hays County Local Health Department issued a correction on the number of hospitalizations in the county. The department’s original report indicated 16 people were hospitalized, however there are 14. We have since updated the brief with the correct number of hospitalizations.
The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality, a San Marcos man in his 70s. There have been a total of 241 fatalities in the county.
The county also reports 45 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 May 8-10 and and 181 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 18,606, total active cases to 407 and recoveries to 17,958. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 730.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 143, 120 and 76 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 164,843. The total number of hospitalizations is 862 and total current hospitalizations is 14 after four people were hospitalized and six were discharged.
