The Hays County Health Department reports one new COVID-19 fatality Sept. 28, a San Marcos woman in her 50s. The total number of fatalities in the county is now 55.
The county also reports 45 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 71 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 5,916, active cases to 1,528 and recoveries to 4,333. There have been a total of 445 active cases in the last 21 days.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 461, 688 and 259 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 26,635. The total number of hospitalizations is 343 and total current hospitalizations is eight after two patients were admitted and 13 were discharged.
