Hays County reports 5 new COVID-19 fatalities, 40 new COVID-19 cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports five new COVID-19-related fatalities June 2, a Buda man in his 60s, a Buda woman in her 70s, a Dripping Springs woman in her 70s, a San Marcos man in his 70s and a Wimberley woman in her 80s. There have been a total of 252 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 40 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 87 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 18,904, total active cases to 187 and recoveries to 18,465. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 328.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 44, 38 and 26 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 171,607. The total number of hospitalizations is 891 and total current hospitalizations is 12 after 12 people were hospitalized and 12 were discharged.
