Hays County reports seven new COVID-19 fatalities

The Hays County Local Health Department reports seven new COVID-19-related fatalities Dec. 31-Jan. 4, a Buda male in his 50s, a Buda female in her 50s, a San Marcos male in his 90s, a San Marcos female in her 70s, a San Marcos male in his 70s, a Wimberley male in his 80s and a Wimberley female in her 80s. There have been a total of 133 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 323 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 215 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 10,958, total active cases to 1,737 and recoveries to 9,088. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 2,437.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 549, 513 and 376 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 77,327. The total number of hospitalizations is 565 and total current hospitalizations is 36 after 15 people were hospitalized and 28 were discharged.
