Hays County reports six new COVID-19 fatalities

The Hays County Local Health Department reports six new COVID-19-related fatalities Jan. 12, two women and two men from San Marcos, all in their 90s, one Kyle woman in her 90s and one Buda woman in her 80s. There have been a total of 146 fatalities in the county. 

The county also reported 336 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 176 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 12,446, total active cases to 2,419 and recoveries to 9,881. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,021.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 826, 667 and 501 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 86,304. The total number of hospitalizations is 614 and total current hospitalizations is 41 after six people were hospitalized and seven were discharged.
