Hays County reports two new COVID-19 fatalities, 348 new COVID-19 cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities Aug. 21- 23, a Kyle man in his 50s and a San Marcos man in his 70s. There have been a total of 298 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 348 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 315 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 24,107, total active cases to 2,262 and recoveries to 21,547. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3169.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 801, 806 and 354 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 215,174. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,134 and total current hospitalizations is 50 after eight people were hospitalized and 13 were discharged.
