Hays County reports 132 new COVID-19 cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports 132 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 144 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 23,759, total active cases to 2,231 and recoveries to 21,232.

There have been a total of 296 COVID-19-related fatalities in the county since the start of the pandemic. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,292. 

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 758, 837 and 344 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 212,962. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,126 and total current hospitalizations is 55 after four people were hospitalized and six were discharged. The county reports 47 unvaccinated people and eight fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 29 unvaccinated patients and one fully vaccinated patient is in the ICU.
