Hays County reports three new COVID-19 fatalities, 60 new COVID-19 cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports three new COVID-19-related fatalities Oct.8, a Kyle woman in her 60s, a Kyle man in his 60s, and a San Marcos woman in her 80s. There have been a total of 379 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 60 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 109 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 28,963, total active cases to 827 and recoveries to 27,757. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,457.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 179, 263 and 166 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 261,466. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,314 and total current hospitalizations is 32 after one person was hospitalized and nine people were discharged.

The county reports 27 unvaccinated people and five fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 22 unvaccinated patients and two fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
