Hays County reports one new COVID-19 fatality, 28 new COVID-19 cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality Oct. 22, a man from San Marcos in his 70s. There have been a total of 389 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 28 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 59 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 29,420, total active cases to 489 and recoveries to 28,542. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 878.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 103, 180 and 123 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 269,754. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,333 and total current hospitalizations is 15 after zero people were hospitalized and three were discharged.

The county reports 11unvaccinated people and four fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 10 unvaccinated and three fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
