The Hays County Local Health Department reports five new COVID-19-related fatalities Oct. 4,a Kyle woman in her 20s, a San Marcos man in his 60s, a San Marcos man in his 50s, a San Marcos woman in her 70s, and a Wimberley man in his 70s. There have been a total of 372 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 166 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 241 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 28,766, total active cases to 988 and recoveries to 27,406. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,889.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 230, 333 and 185 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 258,101. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,307 and total current hospitalizations is 39 after 14 people were hospitalized and 11 were discharged.

The county reports 31 unvaccinated people and eight fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 24 unvaccinated patients and two fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
