Hays County reports one new COVID-19 fatality, five new cases

Note: According to the Hays County Local Health Department, the department  did not receive tests from Curative testing sites today which may contribute to a low number of new cases. 

The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality March 17, a Kyle man in his 70s. There have been a total of 233 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported five new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 53 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,789, total active cases to 392 and recoveries to 16,164. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 673.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 133, 95 and 81 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 136,947. The total number of hospitalizations is 770 and total current hospitalizations is seven after two people were hospitalized and one was discharged.
